Noah's Train
On February 21st, 2019, Noah's Train arrived in Brussels. The climate train left Katowice, Poland, two months earlier and previously stopped in Vienna, Berlin and Paris. It was an initiative of the Rail Freight Forward coalition, which advocates doubling the volume of freight by rail by 2030. The name comes from the biblical figure Noah, who built an ark with which many animals survived the flood.
The train is also the longest-running work of art in the world. European street artists have painted the wagons with colorful drawings of animals. Two Antwerp artists, Rise One and SMOK, represented Belgium.
My photo report of the arrival was published by BrusselBlogt. (www.brusselblogt.be/2019/02/21/treinen-voor-het-klimaat.html)
